RECORD SUCCESS FOR ROTARY CLUB SANTA SLEIGH
Donations made to Tettenhall Rotary’s Santa Sleigh over the Christmas period amounted to £11,760 .00; a record collection for the Club.
Excited children and parents lined the streets of Claregate, Low Hill, Old Fallings, Fordhouses The Scotlands and Bushbury on six nights before Christmas. Every child was able to meet Santa who gave out hundreds of party chocolate bars. Donations amounted to £1943.62.
On 10 days, Santa’s Sleigh delighted shoppers at ASDA, Sainsburys St Marks, Morrisons at Pendeford and the COOP at Codsall. Donations amounted to £8260. 83.
In addition, Tettenhall Rotary Club was invited to bring their Santa Sleigh to the lights switching on events in Wolverhampton City Centre, Tettenhall, Bantock Park and Bilbrook as well as several schools, Wolves Dribblers and Young Wolves with donations totalling £1555.55
For the last 16 years, Tettenhall Rotary Club’s Father Christmas Sleigh has brought a little magic to children by touring neighbourhoods before Christmas and entertaining shoppers outside supermarkets. Many thousands of pounds have been raised for good causes.
Rotarian Roger Timbrell said that ‘the real magic this year was the Christmas spirit, generosity and warmth of welcome of the people in the communities we visited’.
Organiser Chris Bowyer said ‘ On behalf of Tettenhall Rotary Club I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who donated. Our collections will be distributed to Compton care, Acorns childrens hospice, the Midlands Air Ambulance and other worthy causes.
