I was privileged to attend a special lunch at the Rotary Club of Wolverhampton, writes PDG Bill Hitchin. We heard Past Rotary International Director Keith Barnard-Jones report on the progress to End Polio Now, but above all to present Past District Governor Dr Fraser Dukes with his Service Above Self award, Rotary’s highest award, in recognition of 28 years leading the fight in D1210 against Polio.
This was a special award to a very special friend, who was Governor when I was President of Telford Centre and made by then Rotary in Britain & Ireland President Keith. So richly deserved that over 90 Rotarians and guests attended. A true gentleman who received his award with typical modesty. Well done Fraser.
